lessons learned

Districts are starting with the technology and not asking themselves: ‘What problem are we trying to solve, and what’s the instructional model we need to solve it?’ and then finding technology in service of that.

Background

Looking at case studies might help to inform how we address our innovation plans. There are numerous case studies out there and I’ve chosen a couple to spotlight here. We will look at some lessons learned from the local and global community. Why do some projects work and others fail spectacularly? Without giving away too much here, I believe the answer lies in the planning, implementation, and support of the plan.

To find out more, check out my presentation. To the right you'll find the original source. Below you'll find a screencast as an example of how it might look in practice.

Deployments are only as good as the vision set forth before a Wi-Fi system or even a type of device is selected (Chambers, 2014).

Looking Ahead

Assessing other agencies' plans has been an incredibly valuable experience. Looking at what worked and didn't work has helped me better shape my innovation plan and will help inform my decisions as I work on some of my other important projects. Next steps will be diving even deeper into the literature to see what I can find— hopefully related more closely to my specific area of study.
