Process

There are three parts to this WebQuest assignment: Watch, Explore, and Reflect. Each of these parts will have you engaging in the same topic but using different mediums to consume content and communicate your findings. 

Part 1: Watch

Get familiar with the central question by viewing the following two videos.
Then choose at least one of the following videos to view and dive a little deeper.
After viewing the videos, you will create a 3-5 minute video presentation using the software of your choice. You may want to consider using a combination of tools from the resources list provided. Post your video on the discussion board.
Your video should address the following:
  • ​Should we be afraid of robots taking our jobs? Why or why not?
  • What is the future outlook for the world of work?
  • One or two main takeaways.

Part 2: Explore

  1. Visit willrobotstakemyjob.com and search your current job, a past job, or your future job.
  2. Enter a second job of your choice or use the "random example" feature to generate a search. 
  3. Continue researching your two jobs using at least two other online resources.

Take note of a few things for both jobs:
  • Name of job
  • Percentage 
  • Automation risk level
  • Projected growth
  • Median annual wage​​
  • Education level required
  • ​Local opportunities
Using the discussion board, please create a new entry and consider the following:
  • Were you surprised by the results in general? Why or why not?
  • Has this changed your mind on a future career? If so, why?
  • ​What would the risk level need to be in order for you to reconsider your current or future career choice?
​​Respond to at least two of your classmates.

Part 3: Reflect

For this part you will reflect on all of the material you have viewed, read, and engaged in and create a blog post summarizing your thoughts and conclusions. Review the provided resources to research and decide on a blog platform that's right for you. Some are standalone blogs and others are built-in to website builders. Once you've published your blog, post your link to the discussion board.
