Digital Literacy: Introduction

In this TED Talk, Dr. Doug Belshaw offers the idea that there are multiple digital literacies and that acquisition of new literacies can alter a person's impact on the world. Recommended for teachers, adult learners.

Overview of qualities that make up a good digital citizen and introduces several helpful practices. Good introduction to Ribble's nine elements of digital citizenship or other videos in the GCF series.

What's in Your Digital Footprint?
An introduction to the concept of a digital footprint. Emphasizes the importance of thinking critically about what you post online. ​Fully animated, no voiceover.

​The Digital Immigrant
A TEDx presentation on the digital immigrant who is someone not native to the digital environment. The topic takes a largely medical perspective (presenter is an MD) but is just as applicable to the educational setting.
Copyright and Fair Use
A brief overview of copyright and fair use. Looks at attribution, permissions, and responsible use of content. Good introduction to a lesson or unit on creative commons and how to use it.
